The Boy child is Crying while the Girl child is Sobbing

As we mark the International Women’s Day 2016 there has been a lot of noise emanating from my fellow men in regard to the girl child being granted more opportunities than the boy child. Well! I may not term myself as a specialist in this field but I do believe I can offer some advice to my fellow men. Most of the African societies are Patriarchal in nature and men by nature are known to defend their status quo in this system.

Truth be said, men are feeling threatened that women are being given opportunities in education and other sectors. It’s quite normal for men to feel threatened by educated and empowered women who know what they want. Well, “I am not an exception I also do feel threatened”.

Equity is the quality of being fair and impartial if we advocate for it in the right way then we have no need to feel like the boy child is threatened. Just pick an example from your rural village setting the girl child is the one who does all the house-hold chores and serves the boy child yet we feel the boy is threatened.

To all my fellow men let us give our beautiful girls and ladies a chance to enjoy what we have deprived them since time in memorial…..

Thank you
